— The Arizona Coyotes announced Monday that defenseman Travis Hamonics has been waived to clear an entry-level waiver.
Hamonics, who was signed to a three-year entry-Level contract last summer, is set to join the Grand Rapids Griffins on an AHL contract beginning this season.
The 30-year-old Hamonic had been a member of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights organization for the past two seasons.
Hamonic spent last season in the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins organization and made 24 appearances with two goals and 13 assists for 19 points.
Hamones is a two-time Hobey Baker Award finalist with the Buffalo Sabres, including two goals, 12 assists and 26 penalty minutes in 61 games during his five-year career.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Hamonic was signed as a free agent by the Buffalo Penguins in 2014.
