In an interview with ABC News, former President Barack Obama claimed that he has the best presidency we’ve had, despite Donald Trump’s win.
The interview, taped on Friday at the White House, was released on Monday, three days after Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States.
Obama spoke about his time in the White Houses first term, which he called “a pretty good administration.”
The former President explained that while it was a “pretty bad” administration, he had the best president in American history.
“We have a president who I think is the best we’ve got,” Obama said.
“He’s a guy who has always been very honest about his personal life and has been very, very committed to working across party lines.
He’s been a great partner to me on the campaign, a great president in the Oval Office.
He had a pretty bad first year.””
But I think it’s also important to recognize that when you’re in the presidency of the most powerful country in the world, you’re going to have some challenges,” he continued.
“The biggest challenge for the presidency is not going to be the fact that you’re not president, it’s going to really be the way you govern, the way that you conduct yourself.”
So, I think that’s what this presidency is about.
It’s not about having a good time and having fun, it has to be about making sure that we have the best possible team that can do the job of governing, that’s going forward,” Obama added.
He continued: “And that means we’re going back to the basics of getting things done.”
The interview also focused on the 2016 election, and the former President’s thoughts on how the country is headed in 2020.”
I think we’re moving in the right direction, I believe we’re in a better place than we were at the time of the election.
And I think we’ll find that we’re headed in a different direction.””
But we’re still not where we want to be.
And I think we’ll find that we’re headed in a different direction.”
Obama will turn 75 in January.
