Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service Competitive Examination 2018 eligibility criteria

Age limit– Candidate must have attained the minimum age of 22 years and maximum 35 years on or before 5th January, 2018. The upper age limit is relaxable by 03 years for S.C. / S.T. and other prescribed reserved categories (OPRC) candidates of Himachal Pradesh.

Educational qualification– Candidate must hold a degree in Law as recognized by the Bar Council of India as on fifth of January, 2018. The knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the State of Himachal Pradesh is desirable.

How to apply for Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service Competitive Examination 2018

Eligible candidates can apply online at http://hp.gov.in/hppsc/ to access the home page of the “ONLINE APPLICATION FILING SYSTEM” on or before 5 January 2018. After filling-up the Application form, download the same and take the print on A-4 size paper and dispatch along with documents to “Controller of Examination, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Nigam Vihar, Shimla -171002” in an envelope superscripted with the name of examination viz. “Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services Examination, 2017″ on the envelope before dispatching it.

Candidates can submit the application fee of Rs. Rs.400/- for General / Gen. P.H., Unreserved Category and Rs. 100 for reserved categories either by depositing the money in any branch of PNB by cash or by using Visa / Mastercard/Credit / Debit Card.

Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service Competitive Examination 2018 examination scheme

The preliminary examination will consist of objective type questions of following three papers of 100 Marks each. Each paper shall be of one-hour duration and the examination in all the three papers shall be held on the same day at Shimla and Dharamsala in Kangra District.

• Civil Law-I
• Civil Law-II
• Criminal Law

The main (narrative) examination will consist of 5 papers followed by viva-voce.

PAPER-I Civil Law-I: Code of Civil Procedure. Indian Evidence Act, Indian Stamp Act, Himachal Pradesh Courts Act, 1976 and Specific Relief Act- 200 Marks

PAPER-II Civil Law-II: Indian Contract Act, Hindu Law, Indian Limitation Act, Transfer of Property Act and H.P. Urban Rent Control Act- 200 Marks

PAPER-III Criminal Law: Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Chapter-XVII (section 138 to 143) of the Negotiable Instruments Act, H.P. Excise Act-2011 as Applicable to the State of H.P., Wild Life Protection Act and Indian Forest Act – 200 Marks

PAPER-IV English Composition- 150 Marks
• Essay- 100 Marks
• Translation of Hindi Passage into English- 50 Marks

PAPER-V Language (Hindi) – 100 marks
• Translation of English passage into Hindi-30 Marks
• Essay in Hindi on any topic out of three-50 Marks
• Composition (Idioms and Corrections etc.)-20 Marks

Candidates, who qualify the Main written examination, will be required to appear at such place, as may be fixed by the Commission, for a viva-voce test of maximum 150 marks. A candidate shall also be required to obtain at least 45% of the marks allocated for the interview.
