Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test 2018- Kerala TET 2018 starts from November

Department of General Education, Kerala is going to conduct Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for Category I (Lower Primary Classes) Category II (Upper Primary Classes) Category III (High School Classes) and Category IV (for Language Teachers – Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to UP classes), Specialist Teachers (Art & Crafts) and Physical Education Teachers for Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes in Kerala. Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 eligibility criteria

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 will be for four categories – Category I (teacher for Lower Primary classes), Category II (teacher for Upper Primary classes), Category III (teacher for High School classes) & Category IV (language teacher, Specialist teachers and Physical Education teachers, here we are with the eligibility criteria for each category .

Educational qualification for Category-I (for Lower Primary classes)– Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary with 45% marks and have two year Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent can apply for KTET 2018. Candidates passed Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)/ 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Educational qualification for Category-II (for Upper Primary classes)- Candidates who have passed B.A/B.Sc./B.Com with 45% marks and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent/ 1 year Bachelor in Education. Candidates passed Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)/ 4 year B.A / B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

Educational qualification for Category-III (for High School classes) – Candidates who have passed BA/BSc/B.Com with at least 45% marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned can apply for KTET 2018. For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology candidate must have MSc.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned with minimum 50% marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects candidate must have MSc.Ed. Degree in Life Science minimum 50% marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.

Educational qualification for Category-IV – For Language teachers in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers and Physical Education teachers (up to High School level) for teachers of Art Education and Craft Education eligibility norms prescribed by the State Government shall be applicable till the time when NCTE lays

How to apply for Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test 2018

Eligible candidates can submit online applications at official website of Pareeksha Bhavan www.keralapareekshabhavan.in from November 2018. Click on K-TET ONLINE APPLICATION – STEP 1 and Fill all the required details. Kerala TET 2018 application fee can be paid in cash in the Account No. 67186142559 Kerala TET, in favour of the Director, SCERT, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram at the select branches of State Bank of Travancore.

• Application fees for General and OBC-A/OBC-B candidates: Rs. 500 /-
• Application fees for reserved (SC/ST/ PH-VH/PH-HI/PH-OH) categories: Rs.250 /-

KTET 2018 Applications should be submitted to Pareeksha Bhavan only through online. Printout of the application, challan and copies of the certificates need not be sent to Pareeksha Bhavan.

  • Commencement of Kerala TET 2018 online registration – November 2018
  • Last date to apply for Kerala TET 2018 online registration – December 2018
  • Downloading Admit Card through website- December 2018
  • Kerala TET 2018 examination date- December 2018

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 test pattern

For Paper-I– The test paper will consist of 150 MCQs

• Child Development & Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6-11 compulsory) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Language I (Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Language II (English/ Arabic) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Mathematics– 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Environmental Studies– 30 MCQs (30 Marks)

For Paper-II– The test paper will consist of 150 MCQs

• Child Development & Pedagogy (relevant to age group 11-14 compulsory) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Language I (Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Language II (Malayalam/English) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• For Mathematics and Science teacher – 60 MCQs (60 Marks) OR (b) For Social Studies/Social Science teacher- 60 MCQs (60 Marks)
• For any other teacher – either (a) or (b)

For Paper-III– The test paper will consist of 150 MCQs

• Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude– 40 MCQs (40 Marks)
• Language I (Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English) – 30 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy)- 80 MCQs (80 Marks)

For Paper-IV– The test paper will consist of 150 MCQs

• Child Development, Pedagogy & Teacher Aptitude– 30 MCQs (40 Marks)
• Language I (Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English) – 40 MCQs (30 Marks)
• Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy)- 80 MCQs (80 Marks)
