The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is inviting online application for Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018 for recruitment to the following posts going to be held on 29 June 2018. Category II- Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources

  • Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group A- 23 post

UPSC Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018 eligibility criteria

Age limit– Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and maximum 32 years as on 1 January 2018 for Category-I and  maximum of 35 years as on 1 January 2018 or Category-II.

UPSC Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018 Educational qualification

For Geologists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India– Candidate must have Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas studies or Petroleum Geo science or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from an UGC recognized university.

For Geophysicists Gr ‘A ‘ i n Geological Survey of India– Candidate must have M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) Or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a UGC recognized University.

For Chemists Gr ‘A ‘ in Geological Survey of India– Candidate must have M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other recognized educational Institutes.

For Junior Hydrgeologists (Scientist B), Group ‘A’ in Central Ground Water Board– Candidate must have Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized University or other educational Institutes established OR have Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.

How to apply for UPSC Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018

Candidates are required to apply online only by using UPSC online portal website www.upsconline.nic.in. The Online Applications can be filled from 21.03.2018 to 16.04.2018 after which the link will be disabled.

Candidates have to pay a Fee of Rs. 200/- (Female / SC/ST / PH Candidates are exempted from payment of the Fee) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card.

  • Last date to apply for Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018- 16 April 2018
  • Last date to submit the application fee in cash- 15 April 2018
  • Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018 exam date-29 June, 2018 (3 days)

UPSC Combined Geo Scientist and Geologists Examination 2018 test scheme

Part I – Written examination in the subjects as mentioned below. Duration of the each exam will be 3 hours.
1. General English (common for all category)- 100 marks
Category – 1 For the post of Geologist
2. Geology Paper I – 200 marks
3. Geology Paper II- 200 marks
4. Geology Paper III- 200 marks
Category – 2 For the post of Geophysicist
2. Geophysics Paper I- 200 marks
3. Geophysics Paper II- 200 marks
4. Geophysics Paper III- 200 marks
Category – 3 For the post of Chemist
2. Chemistry Paper I- 200 marks
3. Chemistry Paper II- 200 marks
4. Chemistry Paper III- 200
Category – 4 For the Post of Jr. Hydrogeologist
2. Geology Paper I – 200 marks
3. Geology Paper II – 200 marks
4. Hydrogeology – 200 marks

Part II – Interview/ Personality Test of such candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks.
